Ingredients
  

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1-2 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 ½ medium onions, chopped (about 2 ½ cups)

Instructions
 

  • Mix the dry ingredients.
  • Add milk and stir.
  • The batter will be thick.
  • Add onions and mix thoroughly.
  • Heat ½ inch of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat to 350 - 375 F. Drop batter by tablespoons into the hot oil. Flatten slightly. Brown on both sides until crisp.
  • Drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
