- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornmeal
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1-2 teaspoon salt or to taste
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 ½ medium onions, chopped (about 2 ½ cups)
Mix the dry ingredients.
Add milk and stir.
The batter will be thick.
Add onions and mix thoroughly.
Heat ½ inch of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat to 350 - 375 F. Drop batter by tablespoons into the hot oil. Flatten slightly. Brown on both sides until crisp.
Drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
