  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 pinch salt

Wet Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ¾ cup raw honey
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 units oranges zest of
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger

Optional Glaze

  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoon orange juice

Baking Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your baking pan.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, combine melted butter, honey, and eggs.
  • Stir in orange juice, orange zest, and grated ginger.
  • Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined (avoid overmixing).
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • For extra flavor, brush the cake with the optional honey-orange glaze while warm.
  • Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For added citrus flavor, increase the orange zest or add a few drops of orange extract. This cake pairs wonderfully with whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, or a citrus glaze. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
