Dry Ingredients

  • 1.25 cups all purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1.5 teaspoon baking powder

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese Do not use pre-shredded cheese.
  • 1 pound sage ground pork sausage
  • 3 TBS unsalted butter melted
  • 0.25 cups milk

Cooking Steps

  • Preheat oven to 400F. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, salt, pepper, onion powder, and baking powder.
  • Add the cheese and toss until coated.
  • Add the sausage, melted butter, and milk. Mix well - using clean hands to mix works best.
  • Form mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a large lightly-greased baking sheet.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until browned and cooked through. Serve fresh.

Notes

You can freeze unbaked sausage balls for up to 3 months. Place on a baking sheet and freeze for one hour, then transfer to a zip-top freezer bag.
